What I love most about the DCC is the connection and community it creates for women in our profession. It creates a space where we can learn from one another, support each other, and grow together, both personally and professionally. There’s something so inspiring about being surrounded by women who genuinely want to see each other succeed.
What does "Stronger Together" mean to you? To me, "Stronger Together" is about collaboration over competition. It’s about sharing ideas, lifting each other up, and recognizing that we all go further TOGETHER. When we lead with that mindset, we not only strengthen ourselves but also the entire profession.

What made me want to start the DCC: Last fall I took a certification in Women in Leadership at Gonzaga University. The reoccurring theme was more often then not women lack confidence not competence. The second thing was women were over mentored but did not have enough Sponsors who created meaningful paths and opportunities so they could grow career wise. I think organizations still have a long way to go in giving women more seats in Senior Leadership that actually make decisions for companies. We need to peek behind the curtains and see how many women, specifically women of color who actually occupy the C Suites. I want to see real change and the only way to make that happen is to get involved. Do companies really mean it when they say they believe in equality? Take a look at your company’s C-Suite. Who is sitting in the top seats?

What I love about the DCC:
I love that the DCC brings together women who deeply understand both the heart of this work we do in the funeral profession and the complexity of building careers within it. It’s not just about networking, it’s about real connection, shared wisdom, mentorship, and helping one another rise.
Our Motto "Stronger Together":
It means that our greatest progress happens in community, when women share knowledge, champion each other, and create new pathways for leadership together.

Stronger Together means we stop trying to do this work alone.
It means we share ideas, share burdens, share wisdom, and share courage. It means when one of us struggles, someone else steps in. It means we lead with humility, serve with compassion, and grow through connection. Because when death care professionals come together, families are served better, communities are stronger, and this profession becomes what it was always meant to be — a calling, not just a career.
· Connection instead of isolation
· Collaboration instead of competition
· Mentorship instead of gatekeeping
· Shared wisdom instead of individual struggle

Honestly, what I love most about the DCC is the way people show up for each other, in business and in life. There is so much passion and a real drive to keep moving this industry forward. When I first started in deathcare, I knew nothing - and no one. The DCC changed that for me in a big way.
To me, “stronger together” means recognizing that no one has to do this alone. There are people around you who genuinely want to support you, and when we come together, we can accomplish so much more than we ever could on our own.

The Death Care Collective has allowed me to not only grow my professional network but has brought me some of the kindest, most caring people in this profession. The members of the DCC have quickly moved from professional colleagues to personal friends. These exceptional humans are experts in this profession and I have watched them guide others. It really has been fun to watch this grow and expand.
Stronger, Together to me means that regardless of the space you hold in the death care profession, you belong. It does not matter if you are a vendor, funeral director, embalmer, death doula, hospice worker, anything that surrounds death, you belong. This space was built for you and by you. It means we check everything at the door and show up for one another.

What made me want to start the DCC: As I has been navigating changes in my career over the past few years, I benefited from the support, guidance, encouragement and most importantly sponsorship from others. One of the things that stood out to me was that women in the death care space lack opportunities and access to safe spaces to have the types of conversations I was having and I wanted to be able to help provide that environment for others.

What made me want to start the DCC: As we see more and more women emerging into death care, I recognized a need for positive uplifting support within death care. To be able to offer support to those coming into the profession is a space we can help fill through the DCC. Offering a place to be seen and heard.
